Facing the weather - how the drought is affecting us
As many of you are aware, Nangar Gems have two locally owned stores in Dubbo and Parkes. This region has been receiving a lot of publicity of late for one heartbreaking reason - we are in the midst of a severe drought that is affecting farmers and towns alike. We do our best to support our local community - donating to sporting events, charities, business events, schools and other fundraising events that occur in Dubbo, Parkes and surrounding smaller towns. And it’s in times like these that supporting these organisations and businesses falls into the hands of everyone - we are here to let you know how you can assist! What you can do is quite simple, as what our local communities really need is to band together and help out the “little guy”. We have a wonderful range of boutique shops, cafes, grocers, and locally owned businesses in the central west, and we are calling on everyone to shop local!
Whether we want to think about it or not, Christmas is on its way. So have a browse around your local shops before looking online - you might find something to treat your loved ones or yourself that helps a local business owner who is doing their best in these hard times. You may have noticed a few changes if you visit our stores regularly, as we haven’t been restocking and receiving as many new launches as we have in previous years. However we still are here to provide you with the best service possible, so if you don’t see what you are after in store simply speak with one of our staff members! Not only can we show you all options immediately available, but we also have a large range of styles and brands that can be ordered or manufactured (allow yourself some extra time before that special event so that we can accommodate your needs).
The best thing we can all do is band together - we have a strong community who can face anything if we face it together. And it can never hurt to think local, shop local.
